Buffalo NY Painter and Photographer

About

About the artist

I received my BA in Studio Art, where I experimented with a variety of media but mostly worked in oil and watercolor paints. After college I shifted my focus and started a business photographing weddings and portraits. Composition came naturally, but photography taught me more about light than any painting class ever could have. I became obsessed with lighting and it changed the way I saw the world, now I’m constantly awed by how the right light can transform any scene into magic.

Running my photography business was my dream job for a while, but after twelve years spent photographing thousands of people, and over 200 weddings, I began to miss the feeling of a paintbrush in my hand and the freedom of making art on my own terms. I started painting again in 2023, and nothing compares. While I am endlessly grateful for the truly wonderful clients that trusted me to capture their spirits and their stories over the years, I’ve decided to take a break from client-driven photography to focus on creating art.

I am currently painting with oils, and love to paint light, whether it’s in the sky over a majestic landscape or creating interesting shadows on an otherwise forgettable scene. My work is a celebration of light, color, and the beauty of the world around us. I hope it makes you feel good things.

I live in Buffalo, NY with my husband Michael.  When I’m not painting, I’m usually with friends and family or working on fixing up our 125-year-old home. I also love to garden, play pickleball, read, travel, and take advantage of Buffalo’s restaurant scene.
